Fear of reading- It seems ‘hearing’ is better ‘reading’

I recall several instances when I have come across individuals who have resisted reading a document. Instead they have preferred receiving a so called ‘download’ from someone else. Why so much of resistance to read a document? Reading is even more critical when one is expected to respond to the same, post reviewing it in detail.

Reading- a habit or a trait- is critical to have a first-hand experience of what is stated factually in words. It is infact more effective compared to our other sensory organs. A true professional is one who inherently believes in taking rational decisions based on factual information with premises stated explicitly. While we all as professionals, intend to grow, we all have at times resorted to relying more on ‘hearing’ than ‘reading’. Why is this so? I hope we all remember that there are no shortcuts to success.
